About the Role:

 

We are currently seeking a visionary District Manager to lead and oversee construction operations for our Buildings Division in the Manitoba region. Reporting to the Vice President, Buildings Prairies the incumbent in this key leadership role will drive operational efficiency and contribute to the growth and success of the region.    


The District Manager for Buildings Manitoba will oversee the management of multiple ongoing Construction Projects, both buildings and infrastructure, with annual revenues totaling up to $200 Million and will be responsible for significant forward-looking planning and strategy with regards to future work, market conditions, and alignment with Graham’s corporate strategy.  This role is ideal for a strong people-focused leader who is passionate about developing high performing teams and fostering a positive work culture. 
 

 

As a District Manager, you will:

 

Oversee Construction Operations

  • Oversee the internal accountabilities such as: revenue and profitability targets, overhead, safety, timelines, and resource allocation
  • Ensure that projects are completed on time within budget and to quality standards
  • Manage profit and loss through driving performance and cost efficiencies
  • Implement strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and profitability
  • Understand the risks and opportunities related to multiple client contracts for ongoing and potential projects
  • Grow our local capacity and expertise through developing our staff and acquiring additional staff where applicable

 

Track Business Performance 

  • Set and regularly track and ensure key performance indicators (KPI’s) and milestones are achieved
  • Review and validate financial reports for both projects and the business unit in real time to ensure that the longer-range targets are met
  • Recognize and leverage Graham's techniques and processes for tracking progress and work to address and solve complex financial models for large scale projects
  • Prepare three-year rolling budgets and provide quarterly budget updates to the Executive Leadership 
  • Oversee long-term budgeting and forecasting

 

Provide Leadership

  • Set a strong strategic focus that provides direction, alignment, and motivation for the team
  • Evaluate teams, ensuring optimal performance, engagement, and talent retention
  • Assess employee performance, providing regular feedback, coaching, and development opportunities
  • Drive compensation cycles and performance calibration processes, ensuring fair and performance-based rewards

 

Engage Stakeholders

  • Manage the experience and expectations of clients to ensure positive relationships are established, maintained, and expanded upon
  • Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with internal and external parties
  • Establish and maintain relationships with construction joint-venture partners, financing partners, key specialist subcontractors, as well as other stakeholders such as design teams, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support Graham core values
  • Actively participate in industry, client, and community relations to enhance and promote Graham

 

Qualifications:
 

  • The position will require the incumbent to reside in or relocate to Winnipeg
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or a related field or equivalent
  • 20+ years of experience in the construction industry at a management level
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with the willingness to face challenges, solve problems, and motivate others
  • Commitment to quality and safety, and ability to evaluate project-related processes and make necessary changes to meet and exceed internal and external customer expectations
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and clients
  • Strong understanding of commercial terms and risk management strategies complimented with business acumen that will reinforce Graham’s values and position in the local market
  • In good standing within the local construction community
