About The Role

Reporting to the Regional HSE Manager, the HSE Coordinator is responsible for leadership on the project site, and is the go-to safety expert on site. The HSE Coordinator is also responsible for client management, direct interaction with the client, providing safety status updates and statistical data, site reports for Graham and the client, mentorship of coordinators, and monitoring the HSE Administrator workload.

 

As an HSE Coordinator at Graham, you will:

  • Take responsibility for own health, safety, and environmental protection, as well as that of direct reports, the general public, and visitors to the site(s).
  • Conduct project-specific safety orientation with all workers and visitors new to the worksite prior to commencement of work on the project.
  • Arrange or conduct HSE training for workers and Supervisors.
  • Assist in equipment inspections and preparation of reports, and follow-up on all noted deficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance of the maintenance program for tools and equipment on the project.
  • Correct any unsafe conditions, when possible, and report any uncorrected conditions to the responsible project Superintendent or Supervisor.
  • Ensure all controlled products supplied to projects are accompanied by a corresponding current safety data sheet (SDS / MSDS), and other documentation as required by local government regulations.
  • Ensure ERP and other related emergency documents, bulletins, and notices are posted and communicated to workers.
  • Ensure all required HSE reports and meeting minutes are filed, with copies sent to the appropriate personnel for review and corrective action.
  • Assist project Supervisors and / or Foremen with conducting incident investigations, analysis, and completion of incident reports and summaries.
  • Review incident reports and maintain monthly statistics to identify undesirable trends.
  • Conduct formal (documented) project inspections with the project Superintendent and a worker to ensure hazards are identified and a corrective action plan is developed and implemented.
  • Support project Supervision with claims management and return to work processes.
  • Deal with issues and support Operations as required.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrate HSE and Quality behaviours that reflect corporate expectations of Actively Caring and Road to Zero.
  • Assist project Supervisor in the implementation and communication of the PSSP.
  • Accompany local government HSE inspectors and project Superintendent for inspections, and ensure corrections to compliance with legislation are taken.
  • Interact with regulatory bodies and clients, taking a hands-on approach and acting as the point of contact.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent combination of post-secondary education, trade certification or training and work experience
  • Certification in Health and Safety, or a safety designation is an asset.
  • Advanced First Aid is required
  • NCSO, CSO, NEBOSH certification considered an asset
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in the Health and Safety field
  • Understanding of how HSE MS systems work.
  • Understanding of general constructability.
  • Ability to manage others.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and online reporting software.
     

Compensation:

  • $30 - $50 per hour
  • Salary will commensurate with education and experience.
