About the Role: 

Reporting to the Supply Chain Lead, the Buyer is accountable for providing effective operational procurement work to deliver supply chain solutions to the business, including bid-winning and project delivery teams. The incumbent improves performance and reduces cost and business risk, delivers a better value supply chain by embedding category strategies into the projects, and focuses on the needs of internal and external customers. This role supports supply chain management by handling the supply of goods and services across business units.  

 

As a Buyer at Graham, you will: 

  • Support the Supply Chain Lead to deliver objectives and initiatives.  

  • Handle supply chain management activity within business units.  

  • Support the supply chain solution for bid-winning in business units.  

  • Achieve targets set by the Supply Chain Lead.  

  • Support operational procurement needs at the site level.  

  • Support the compilation of the project procurement strategy and schedule.  

  • Monitor supply chain delivery against procurement schedule.  

  • Comply with all Corporate Supply Chain processes and procedures.  

  • Identify ways to reduce cost and improve service.  

  • Carry out quotation analysis and evaluation of tenders.  

  • Place low value orders at least end cost.  

  • Work closely with stakeholders and category managers to understand customer requirements and implement the most appropriate supply chain and category solutions.  

  • Prepare and issue enquiries for subcontractors and materials.  

  • Conduct low value risk negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.  

  • Resolve problems between suppliers and Graham and expedite quotes and deliveries.  

  • Liaise with stores, site teams, and suppliers.

  • Maintain good relationships with customers, clients, and suppliers.  

 

Qualifications/Experience: 

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or another technical field.  

  • Pursuit of SCMA / CIPS qualification is an asset.  

  • 1 – 3 years experience  

  • Ability to listen to client concerns and provide requisite solutions.  

  • Proficiency in procurement processes.  

  • Strong relationship management skills.  

  • Relevant product and subcontract market knowledge.  

  • Knowledge of tender and contract procurement practices and processes.  

  • Strong analytical skills and high competency with supplier selection and evaluation.  

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.  

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.  

  • Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight and demanding deadlines.  

  • Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Office.  

 

Working Conditions:  

  • Most of the work is completed in the office or project site, however regular travel may be required.  

  • The incumbent may need to relocate to other geographic office / site work locations, if necessary.  

  • The incumbent is exempt from overtime.  

 

Compensation: 

  • Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Our current range is $55,000 - $75,000
