About the Role: 

Reporting to the PLAA Manager, the Traffic Specialist will coordinate, develop and implement traffic control plans, liaises with authorities having jurisdiction and manage Traffic and Transit Management plans.  
  

As a Traffic Specialist with Graham you will: 

  • Prepare traffic control plans using BlueBeam, AutoCAD and/or Revit. 
  • Develop, manage and implement traffic and transit management plans  
  • Ensure client, municipality and their respective transit providers are kept informed of all upcoming traffic activities and any revisions to the traffic control plan and traffic management plan 
  • Ensure that appropriate modifications are made to the traffic control plan and traffic management plan 
  • Ensure timely and organized delivery of public and stakeholder communication information, including traffic incident reports 
  • Complete all required monthly, weekly and daily reports and submit through appropriate channels 
  • Coordinate amongst subcontractor, project managers and authorities having jurisdiction to develop and execute traffic control plans 
  • Manages and makes applications on the Road Disruption Activity Reporting System  
  • Conduct site visits as required 
  • Participating in the construction application approval process, including issuance of traffic and transit permits, planning of submittals and processing, and fee assessment and payment processing. 
  • Ensure timely processing of permits and applications. 
  • Coordinate the routing and tracking of plans to various departments and outside agencies for required reviews and clearances. 
  • Provide the necessary documentation to enable on-schedule construction. 
  • Help to maintain and update the project’s permits matrix  
  • Provide recommendations and updates to change the budget as the project is progressing . 
  • Ensure that authorities having jurisdiction are engaged when appropriate to obtain feedback. 
  • Assist in the coordination of internal and external regulatory approval processes. 
  • Help in managing relationships with stakeholders, including government authorities. 
  • Participate in the coordination and scheduling of meetings with stakeholders, as needed. 
  • Take an active role in the education of the project team. 

  

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is preferred  
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience specifically related to traffic management and construction staging  
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario or other  
    related professional qualifications are assets but are not required. 
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7 and the Highway Traffic Act and regulations 
  • Knowledge and experience related to roads, bridges, utility, rail, or other infrastructure projects is an asset. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, and ability to deal with complex issues involving third party agencies, governments, and other stakeholders. 
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driving license G or G2 and have a good driving record. 
  • Solid presentation skills and verbal / written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit and Bluebeam.
