About The Role

Graham Construction is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team for future opportunities within our Toronto Buildings Division. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in our projects, ensuring that costs are managed effectively and projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, contributing your expertise to deliver high-quality construction solutions.

 

As a Quantity Surveyor at Graham, you will:

  • Lead project risk management activities with high-functioning project pursuit and delivery teams for the Ontario Buildings business.
  • Ensure commercial best practices and procedures are effectively implemented, including Consulting with pre-construction teams, insurance/risk advisors, legal advisors, and business leaders to help identify potential risks and opportunities in project pursuits.

  • Working with project and operational management to develop procurement plans, risk-management processes, and mitigation plans.

  • Assist project management with cost control risk & opportunity assessments, and project/portfolio forecasting while developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal clients and stakeholders like owners, joint venture partners, financing partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, and bills of quantities.
  • Analyze project specifications and drawings to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor project costs, including materials, labor, and equipment, and provide regular cost reports to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
  • Provide expert advice on contractual matters and resolve disputes as they arise.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying.

        

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience working as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools, such as CostX, Bluebeam, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and procurement processes.
  • Professional accreditation or membership with relevant industry bodies is preferred.
