About the Role
Reporting to the District Manager, the Project Director is an experienced construction professional that has completed successful ICI construction projects within the Greater Toronto Area and has a strong client focus. Working on a prestigious project downtown Toronto the Project Director is a good team-builder, communicator and stakeholder manager who can cultivate strong relationships with ease with both internal and external partners; they are fully proficient with the technical knowledge, leadership, and communication skills required for complex project assignments in the areas of post-secondary education, pharmaceutical and light industrial and manufacturing.
As a Project Director at Graham, you will:
- Engage Preconstruction in preparing, revising, and monitoring information related to costs involved in developing the project budget.
- Oversee the subcontracting process, which includes facilitating initial scope review meetings, finalizing agreed processes, developing subcontract scopes of work, and managing the subcontract distribution and final execution process.
- Overseeing budget estimates and deliverables to the client.
- Oversee the development of any organizational responsibility matrix and directly approve project resources as required.
- Oversee the review of contract documents with project participants and the commercial manager to ensure terms are clear on deliverables so that project work will be completed on time and within budget.
- Oversee the development of regular status reports for company executives and client committees/representatives that detail the status of the project and recommending actions to be taken.
- Ensure that project schedule, milestone dates, and closeout checklist are prepared and maintained during the project lifecycle.
- Approve and communicate the performance standards and metrics by which the team will be measured against.
- Establish and maintain relationships with public and private sector clients, construction joint-venture partners, financing partners, key specialist subcontractors, as well as other stakeholders, such as design teams, suppliers, and user groups.
- Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting or exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
- Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with internal and external parties by winning concessions without damaging relationships and being direct and diplomatic.
- Actively participate in industry, client, and community relations to enhance and promote Graham.
- Proactively seek new business opportunities through relationships.
Qualifications / Experience:
- A minimum of 15+ years of direct construction project management experience in the ICI buildings sector.
- Technical Diploma or a Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of construction methods and project management processes across contract types like CCDC2, CCDC5, CCDC30.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex construction projects in the Commercial, Manufacturing or Post Secondary space.
- Ability to train project staff in all aspects of project requirements.
- Strong skills in stakeholder management and a detailed understanding commercial and contract terms.
