About the Role
Reporting to the Planning and Scheduling Director, the Project Controls Manager is responsible for defining and documenting processes, procedures, and systems while providing high level support to operations groups and project teams as required. They will monitor changing operational requirements and project risks to assist in improving the overall execution of projects across the portfolio (including ICI and Infrastructure). Additionally, the Project Controls Manager will play a key role in hiring, managing and mentoring a team of junior and intermediate level Project Controls Professionals.
As a Project Controls Manager at Graham, you will:
- Lead in the development of a team development plan, including hiring and mentoring Project Controls professionals as required
- Take the lead on specific projects and initiatives, overseeing systems procedure and practice improvements
- Oversee the documentation and articulation of Graham Management System work processes and standards while developing metrics and KPIs and integrating them into global project and portfolio reporting in the region
- Instill standard practices and procedures for projects while supporting operations teams in addressing project controls at ground level
- Carry out quantity tracking, while communicating with and training other team members in these practices
- Identify and address areas of risk and/or poor performance within the project/portfolio and escalate accordingly
- Manage an improvement roadmap and work directly with project teams to develop project plans and processes
- Direct and approve system adherence while supporting projects in Project Controls planning, including setting up budgeting, schedules, document management, etc.
- Demonstrate business process and system expertise in the areas of Project Controls for the division and provide solid information to project decision makers while raising awareness of concerns/issues which may affect the project financials
- Communicate well at all levels and display a desire to help the project teams, providing efficient support and advice
Qualifications/Experience:
- Completion of a degree or diploma program at a college or university; a degree in Construction or Engineering is preferred
- A minimum 15+ years of experience with a strong focus on Project Controls in a General Contracting environment
- Implimentation of Project Controls systems experience.
- Subject matter expertise across multiple disciplines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability and willingness to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- An in-depth knowledge of current cost control, document and planning / scheduling process and systems
- An intermediate-to-advanced understanding of InEight Project Suit modules is preferred
- Awareness of auxiliary project management areas (HSE, accounting, quality, purchasing, commercial management)
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Project Controls software, and P6
