We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Infrastructure division and build innovative projects in the transit and transportation sectors, such as roads, highways/freeways, bridges, interchanges, LRTs, BRTs, and airports. As part of the Project Team, the Construction Communications Advisor provides broad public engagement, creative and administrative communications support for the SmartTracks St Clair Old Weston Project. The Advisor will take on projects and assignments in multiple disciplines with a focus primarily on community and stakeholder engagement.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Regular contact with Project Director, Construction Manager and other project team members
  • Regular contact with Construction Team including attending weekly meetings
  • Regular Communications Working Group (CWG) Meetings and constant contact with the Metrolinx Communications Team
  • Provide input and support to Metrolinx for the monthly project Construction Liaison Committee meetings
  • Issue driven contact with Metrolinx Corporate Communications, and engage Graham Corporate Communications Director if required
  • Provide Communications information and support to Metrolinx to assist with various public engagement matters from Stakeholders including municipal government, area businesses, residents and other stakeholders as required
  • Responding in a timely manner to Metrolinx’s Communications Team on a variety of enquiries on the project
  • Schedule, plan and report on regular Communications meetings including minutes and action items
  • Manage the creation and administration of proactive communications, for use by Metrolinx, regarding the ongoing construction project; including inputs to construction and traffic notifications, website and social media update materials and public engagement materials such as presentations, flyers, display boards, signage, etc.
  • Support Metrolinx’s Communications Team in the planning, coordination, implementation and reporting on public engagement events throughout the proejct
  • Provide support as required on media relations and crisis communications activities with Metrolinx and Graham’s Communications Director.
  • Coordinate and collaborate on photography requirements, including updates and logistics, and facilitate review of project photographs by Graham’s Safety team.
  • Coordinate with and provide inputs and materials to Graham’s Corporate Communications Team regarding social media updates relating to the project.

 

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field.
  • Experience in a public relations or stakeholder engagement role.
  • Experience in a communications role.
  • Experience in the construction industry.
  • Previous experience working with Metrolinx either directly or as a client would be a major asset.
  • Must have strong technical writing skills, with the ability to understand your audience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; experience with Adobe Suite preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of various social media platforms
  • Understanding of geography, maps, highway systems, traffic management.
  • Comfortable with public speaking at open houses or other events.
