About the Role:

 

The Field Engineer is responsible for providing assistance to more senior staff (Project Managers, Superintendents) in the coordination, scheduling, quantity surveying, reporting, and quality control functions of a project. This is a task-based role that requires working knowledge of core elements of construction projects (field management, estimating, project management). 

 

As a Field Engineer Intern at Graham, you will:

 

  • Perform a variety of duties including but not limited to administrative duties, update schedules and budgets, maintain cost control, and monitor labor material and equipment activities on the project
  • Work with Project Managers/on-site Superintendent to update project schedule and budget to identify potential construction issues
  • Assist with the review and coordination of project-specific safety plan
  • Attend all project team meetings, and document team meetings, action items, and other pertinent project deliverables/decisions
  • Attend all regular meetings, record meeting minutes, and present updates
  • Monitor project change management process, identify change events, submit change notices, track changes and optional changes in project scope, and present to the Project Manager when required
  • Provide timely progress reports to Project Manager
  • Monitor and update schedules with the assistance of the team
  • Assist with drawings, drawing records, revisions, site instructions and change orders
  • Support Project Manager and Superintendent with creating templates and supporting documents on behalf of project team regarding roles and responsibilities
  • Assist in gathering data required for input of regular status reports for company executives and project steering committees
  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with the development of project plans
  • Record change orders and update site drawings
  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with the establishment of a cost reporting system for project components
  • Monitor payroll functions, cost accruals and reviews on a regular basis
  • Build effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support Graham’s core values
  • Take responsibility for the development, implementation, and execution of the Project Specific Safety Plan (PSSP)
  • Monitor KPIs and Ensure HSE has equal status through all phases of the project prior to any construction approval and during execution
  • Know and comply with client requirements, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and all applicable government laws and regulations
  • Review, approve and close out all incidents to support Continuous Improvement (CI) processes and feedback for the HSE MS
  • Maintain QA/QC and Safety records
  • Ensure that Project Quality Risk Assessment (PQRA) is conducted for the project upon award of project contract
  • Ensure implementation of the Project Specific Quality Plan (PSQP) on the project site by all project stakeholders
  • Review the Field Surveillance Reports (FSR) and initiate NCRs based on analysis and severity of findings 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Possess or be in the process of a Civil, Construction Management, Mechanical or Structural Engineering degree
  • Have 1-3 years of experience in a construction environment
  • Use good communication, problem-solving organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Be Computer literate in a Windows environment
