About the Role
Supporting a site in Winnemucca, NV. Reporting to the Site Management Team, the Planner will play a key role in developing detailed job plans for complex, high-impact projects during plant turnarounds. Collaborating closely with the Site Team and Scheduling Manager, the Planner will ensure that turnaround schedules are effectively developed, maintained, and optimized. This role requires close coordination with various execution teams to achieve seamless project execution and adherence to timeline.
As a planner at Graham, you will:
- Develop Detailed Job Plans: Create thorough job plans that outline specific tasks, required resources, sequencing, and estimated completion times for each work package, ensuring all aspects of the maintenance scope are accounted for.
- Resource Allocation & Coordination: Determine and coordinate the manpower, tools, materials, and equipment necessary to complete each job safely and efficiently. Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of resources.
- Safety & Compliance Integration: Integrate safety protocols and compliance requirements into each job plan, incorporating hazard assessments, work permits, and safety equipment needs, and ensuring that plans adhere to industry best practices and facility-specific safety standards.
- Scheduling & Timeline Management: Develop and manage the turnaround schedule, coordinating with various departments to align maintenance activities with operational requirements. Adjust timelines as needed to account for delays, ensuring that all planned work is completed within the designated outage window.
- Scope Validation & Work Pack Creation: Validate the scope of work by conducting field walkdowns, reviewing technical documentation, and collaborating with maintenance and operations teams. Compile all relevant information into structured work packs that provide a clear and actionable guide for field crews.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation Planning: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with each job and develop contingency plans to address them. Incorporate risk mitigation strategies within job plans to minimize downtime and avoid unplanned shutdowns.
- Cost Estimation & Budget Tracking: Provide cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment related to planned maintenance activities, assisting with budget preparation. Track and monitor costs throughout the turnaround to stay within budget and identify areas for cost optimization.
- Continuous Improvement & Lessons Learned: Following the turnaround, gather feedback from stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of job plans and schedules. Document lessons learned and integrate them into future turnaround planning to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead the planning and documentation process of the interfaces (inputs and outputs) between design, procurement, construction, and permitting.
- Ensure all GMS process is followed and recommend improvements when recognized.
- Provide key input to execution plans from a time and resourcing perspective.
- Interact daily with the Project team.
- Interact weekly with subtrades and suppliers.
- Interact and establish positive rapport with the owner scheduling consultant on a regular basis.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Equivalent to completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school, Journeyman trade certification or equivalent or degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
- 5+ years of Planning / Scheduling experience in the required field (Maintenance and Turnarounds).
- Experience working on multiple projects from initiation to close out.
- Direct exposure to the construction industry is required.
- Strong computer skills including SAP, Excel, and Word
- Ability to learn project-specific software as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and write reports, narratives, and analyses in a professional and presentable manner.
- Proven ability of basic knowledge of all trade requirements in a multi-skilled environment/specific knowledge of trade(s) being supported.
- Be able to read blueprints and P&IDs.
- Competent in materials take offs and procurement.
- General knowledge of equipment would be an asset.
- Possess prior experience in estimating and planning.
- Pre-access Drug & Alcohol Test.
- Pre-access criminal background check.
Working Conditions
- This role can begin as hybrid (some opportunity for remote work during the planning stage) and will transition to site-based.
- The schedule will begin as 5 days on, 2 days off, and may transition to a compressed work schedule.
The job duties associated with this position have been deemed Safety Critical by Graham's hiring team and will require the selected candidate successfully pass a 10-panel pre-employment drug screen.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Rate rage: $50-$60
