We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Infrastructure division and build innovative projects in the transit and transportation sectors, such as roads, highways/freeways, bridges, interchanges, LRTs, BRTs, and airports. Reporting to the Environmental Manager the Environmental Coordinator will participate in the success of the project’s Environmental Management System on a day-to-day basis. While working with the Environmental Manager and the Environmental Specialist, they will take on a key role in the Pre-Construction, Procurement and Delivery of a new heavy rail GO Station while working closely with the team to construct multiple rail bridges, pedestrian tunnels and other station building requirements.

 

The Environmental Coordinator will work with the team on the continuous improvement of the EMS, managing and leading Environmental Inspections, Audits and addressing Non-Conformance as required.

 

As an Environmental Coordinator at Graham you will:

  • Ensure the Environmental Management System is adhered to across the project in accordance with contractual requirements and Graham’s own internal policy.
  • Participate in monitoring of environmental aspects, including wildlife, discharge water quantity and quality, excavated materials management, impacted materials, waste management, erosion and sediment control, dust control, spill prevention and spill response, archaeological discoveries, protection of cultural heritage resources, and Sustainability Plan objectives.
  • Participate in managing environmental issues during the pre-construction, procurement and delivery phases of the project; Including environmental monitoring in accordance with contractual requirements, reporting, and Permitting, Licenses, Approvals and Agreements as required.
  • Perform field inspections, surveys, sampling and walk downs of environment-related activities with your team to assure field activities, conditions, and outcomes correspond with the requirements of all applicable environmental laws and standards, environmental contractual obligations, Environmental Management Plans and Environmental Policy.
  • Monitor and inspect construction activities for compliance with environmental obligations and provide advice and recommendations for improving environmental protection.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree or Diploma from a Recognized University or Technical College in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or another related field.
  • P.Eng, CET, and ISO Certifications are all assets.
  • Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC) is preferred.
  • Proven proficiency in observing, inspecting and reporting on the implementation of Erosion and Sediment Control Plans and Environmental protection measures is an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years of Environmental Monitoring experience within a construction or consulting related field.
  • Knowledge of methods, approaches, and best management practices related to environmental inspections, including experience with MTO Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual.
  • Prior experience working in TRCA, GO Transit, and TTC areas is considered an asset.
