About the Role

 

The ideal candidate will identify and lead factors essential in the safe preparation and execution of work in the field. He/ She focuses on safety, quality, schedule, and cost. This role leads the cross-functional craft labor to complete the planning phase steps in accordance with the milestones identified in the Maintenance & Turnaround Management Program and is responsible in leading the field execution Craft Labor, including contractors and site resources, during a turnaround or outage event.

 

As Field Superintendent at Graham, you will:

 

  • Perform work based on assigned scope on complexity of Maintenance & Turnarounds providing supervision and mentorship to less experienced execution team members, contributing to the job-site goals and objectives
  • Participate in the development and optimization of the Maintenance/Turnaround Schedule, lead the execution against the approved schedule
  • Develop and execute against the Maintenance/Turnaround Execution Manual
  • Involved at various stages into planning, scheduling, and execution activities through input into integrations with Operations, the Unit, and contractors as part of the scope development, planning packages, and detailed shutdown and start-up plans and schedules
  • Develop a contracting strategy with Maintenance/Turnaround
  • Manage and lead the execution of the approved strategy
  • Lead execution work of a team that will fluctuate in size (between 10 and 1000+ personnel throughout the Maintenance & Turnaround execution)
  • Lead contractors with contract values up to $50M supporting the turnaround events
  • Lead completion of Package handover and comments collection with the Lead Planner
  • Work with execution coordinators, contractors, and operations to identify where potential problems or difficulties are likely to be encountered
  • During the pre and post-execution phases lead plans keeping the operations group updated
  • Perform field walk-downs to support the development of accurate work scopes and understanding of geographical factors
  • Validate with operations that all equipment to be worked on during Maintenance/Turnaround events is appropriately prepared and safe prior to execution
  • Ensure required permits with clear work description are identified in advance and issued to operations in time to allow permit issuer to meet Regulatory, Safety and Environmental requirements
  • Perform safety tours of assigned area to identify, report and correct any safety hazards as quickly as possible
  • Post Maintenance/Turnaround ensure the team confirms that the work is completed and that the areas are in the same condition as they were prior to entry
  • Ensure that all preparation packages are updated and stored in the appropriate location for future use
  • Drive delivery of Maintenance/Turnaround performance based on early identification and resolution of risks, challenges and issues to meet cost and schedule commitments
  • Drive Company and Contractor safety and quality
  • Support execution team in solving problems including investigation and interpretation of established procedures, methods and tools
  • Solve problems requiring investigation and interpretation using established procedures, methods and tools. Inform TA Manager as required

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • 5+ years in a Maintenance/Turnaround role, preferably with refining and/or petrochemicals
  • Strong field execution experience managing 50 – 1,000 craft per shift during an event
  • Experience in Commissioning, Start-up, and Shut-down activities
  • Strong Leadership capabilities must have the ability to influence functional groups and external contractors
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization including delegation of work
  • MS Office suite, Primavera, and SAP
  • Strong Labor Relations experience/ Union experience is a plus
  • Experience with budget cycles is a plus
  • Understands and identifies impacts, risks, and mitigation for managing different contract types including inputs into optimal contract types for turnaround deliverable
  • Understanding of Project Management fundamentals
  • Comply with standard pre-employment DISA background check, hair follicle, and 10 panel drug screen.
