About the Role:

 

Reporting to the Project Manager / Construction Manager / BIM/VDC Lead, the BIM/VDC Coordinator is responsible for providing assistance to more senior staff (Project Managers, Superintendents) in the BIM/VDC area of specialization. The incumbent uses working knowledge of core elements of construction projects to carry out various tasks as required, and is assigned to a specific job / project.

 

As a BIM/VDC Coordinator at Graham, you will:

 

Execution

  • Work with point clouds.
  • Set up Revit, Navisworks, etc. models.
  • Verify and document coordinate system requirements.
  • Create and name export views and export sets in Revit, and additional corresponding authoring platforms.
  • Export data for use in other software packages.
  • Generate model content (i.e. Revit families).
  • Export to Navisworks from Revit etc.
  • Create federated Navisworks files.
  • Perform clash detection and generate reports.
  • Export DWG format backgrounds from Revit.
  • Participate in Coordination Meetings (clash meetings), supporting and providing information to support the project manager’s decision making.
  • Update and maintain BIM Execution Plans
  • Run and publish Navisworks clash detection data for the project team.
  • Process point cloud data on applicable projects.
  • Create as-built model (if required).
  • Review clash detection findings with project managers.
  • Support project teams with Digital Construction Technology use and adoption.
  • Facilitate training on Digital Construction Technologies to project teams.

 

Planning and Process

  • Follow the BIM execution plan, ensuring that the information is in line with the plan and the project goals and deliverables.
  • Track BIM/VDC deliverables from trades and consultants and ensure they are provided in line with the plan.
  • Follow the process for clash detection - provide models, sort, and prioritize, and provide solutions where appropriate.

 

Client Focus

  • Help the project manager by providing information (i.e. highlighting potential conflicts or risks) to help make educated and supported decisions on the project.
  • Act as a communication bridge between different project participants.

Qualifications / Experience: 

 

  • University degree or completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school; Degree in Building Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or Construction is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience; architectural consultant firm experience is an asset.
  • Autodesk certification, CANBIM certification, and construction association certification are all assets.
  • Construction experience and a willingness to learn.
  • Strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of and increasing familiarity with the core elements of a construction project, including systems, practices, and processes of project management.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks, MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, Primavera P6; Synchro, Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM360), Revizto, and equivalent technologies are assets.
