Compensation and Benefits:

About the Role:

 

Join our dynamic construction team as a Heavy Equipment Operator, where your expertise will be pivotal in the successful execution of various projects. As a key member of our workforce, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery, including gasoline, diesel, pneumatic, or electric-powered equipment, to move materials according to project specifications.

 

As a Heavy Equipment Operator at Graham, you will:

 

  • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on heavy concrete construction projects
  • Move, lift, and transport materials, earth, or other objects using heavy equipment
  • Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and graders
  • Plan and pace own work efficiency to meet daily, weekly, project, or team-related productivity goals
  • Coordinate machine actions seamlessly with other activities, adeptly positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members 
  • Conduct excavation and grading activities to prepare the construction site. This may involve digging trenches, leveling the ground, or creating slopes according to project plans
  • Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Safety Manager or Human Resources
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning. Identify and report any issues to maintenance personnel for prompt resolution

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Skillfully operate gasoline, diesel, pneumatic, or electric-powered equipment to precisely move objects or materials following project specifications

  • Possess a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience and a minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience operating heavy equipment. Alternatively, demonstrate an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience

  • Exhibit the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures, emphasizing effective communication with co-workers and supervisors
  • Certification in heavy equipment operation from a recognized institution or through industry-specific programs is preferred
  • Demonstrate flexibility by being available to work overtime, including nights and weekends, as needed, to meet project schedules

  • Must have precise control of the machinery to ensure the accurate placement of materials on the construction site

  • Must know operating procedures as it pertains to loading and unloading materials

  • Good physical condition to endure long hours of sitting, standing, and operating heavy equipment
  • Effective communication with team members, supervisors, and other construction personnel
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting and addressing minor equipment issues
  • Ability to adapt to unexpected situations on the construction site
  • Strong spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination for precise equipment operation
