Graham is actively recruiting for a Turnaround Cost Controller to support the Services Division. Reporting to Site Manager, the TA Cost responsible for planning, tracking, forecasting, and managing all financial aspects of major maintenance turnarounds within Bitumen Production.
The incumbent is a key liaison between Planners, Schedulers, Maintenance, Operations, Supply Chain, and leadership teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective turnaround execution.
This is a six‑month contract role with a possibility of extension, operating on a 4/3 fly‑in, fly‑out (FIFO) schedule and based at the Fort McMurray project site.
Your Role in Building What Matters – From Office to Site
- Develop and manage turnaround cost estimates and budgets, ensuring alignment with scope, worklists, labor plans, and CAPEX/OPEX classification throughout the turnaround lifecycle.
- Track and control daily turnaround costs, including contractor labor, materials, equipment rentals, and emergent work, with daily burn-rate reporting and deviation analysis.
- Prepare forecasts and perform variance analysis, identifying cost risks, scope changes, and productivity impacts, and recommending corrective actions to leadership.
- Validate contracts, purchase orders, change orders, and invoices, ensuring compliance with contracts, approved scope, and corporate financial controls.
- Provide cost reporting, dashboards, and financial insights using ERP systems and tools like SAP, Excel and Power BI to support real-time decision-making during execution and post-turnaround closeout.
The Right Tools for the Job
- Education: Diploma or degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Engineering, or related field
- Experience: 3-7 years of cost control experience in oil sands, heavy industry, industrial maintenance, or turnarounds
- Software: Strong proficiency with ERP systems (Maximo, SAP, Oracle) and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI).
