About the role

 

Graham’s Sustainability Team is seeking a dynamic and motivated Sustainability Director to support the implementation of Graham’s Sustainability strategy and our success in the energy transition. This role will identify and enable best practices in sustainability embedded across the business. Responsibilities include support for the Operations and Business Development teams as well as the corporate functions. The role will also support effective ESG data management for accurate and timely business insights in the design, monitoring, and engagement on key sustainability initiatives. Reporting to the SVP HSEQ & Sustainability, the Sustainability Director will be based in the Calgary Corporate office and will liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

 

 

As Sustainability Director at Graham you will:

 

  • Provide an active and visible leadership role in all Sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop sustainability processes and perform, material assessments, lifecycle assessments and cost-benefit analyses based on Graham’s business strategy.
  • Identify the resources required to implement the Sustainability strategy
  • Continuously improve Graham Sustainability strategy and implementation within the business
  • Manage, train, and grow the Sustainability committee capabilities and direction
  • Identification and implementation of best practices in sustainability
  • Develop efficient, effective, and verifiable ESG data management processes that support analysis of Graham’s overall ESG performance
  • Research and benchmark peer ESG performance and sustainability trends in the construction sector
  • Management of ESG reporting using TCFD, SASB, GRI or other disclosure standards that meet our business strategy
  • Collaborate with IT to deliver sustainability reporting systems that support the reporting strategy
  • Compile and summarize ESG statistical data to identify undesirable trends and recommend corrective action.
  • Review and analyze sustainability policy development to identify risks and opportunities for Graham
  • Develop Graham Yearly Sustainability report
  • Report on the effectiveness of the sustainability strategy to Senior Operations and the SVP HSEQ & Sustainability.
  • Contribute to budget planning on initiatives, providing recommendations to Operations and the SVP HSEQ & Sustainability.
  • Interact with regulatory bodies and clients, taking a hands-on approach and acting as the point of contact.
  • Participate in sustainability associations and boards / committees.

 

Qualifications/Experience

 

The successful candidate will be an energetic systems-thinker, passionate about sustainability with the following qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as business, sustainability, environmental sciences or engineering
  • A post-graduate degree is considered an asset
  • 10-15 years in the construction sector and/or sustainability (both preferred)
  • Direct experience construction management, project development cycle
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • An excellent verbal and written communicator able to translate between technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strategically oriented, collaborative, adaptable and open-minded to new approaches
  • A commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
  • Technically proficient in office productivity software
  • Able to work and set priorities in a multi-task environment with minimal supervision
  • Able to travel occasionally to operating sites in Alberta
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and solution development skills,
  • Strong facilitation skills (discussion/ brainstorming, engagement)
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility and demonstrate technical expertise
  • Detail-orientated with an ability to compile and analyze data from various sources and stakeholders
