Graham is actively recruiting for a Senior Environmental Specialist operating at a corporate level; and providing technical support to the entire Graham group of companies. Reporting to the Senior Manager - Environment, the Senior Environmental Specialist will interact with employees at all levels and make a significant impact on the organization. This role has responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and support company-wide programs to meet corporate expectations for environmental performance, and continuously improve the HSE system.
This is a hybrid role based in our Calgary Office
Your Role in Building What Matters – From Office to Site
- Provide corporate-level technical leadership and regulatory oversight for environmental management across projects (soil, water, waste, wildlife, erosion control).
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and regulatory requirements related to construction and infrastructure activities.
- Support and continuously improve the company-wide HSE Management System through reviews, training, auditing, and updates.
- Conduct field inspections and evaluations to verify compliance with environmental laws, permits, EMPs/EPPs, and best management practices.
- Lead or support environmental incident investigations, regulatory reporting, and corrective/preventive actions, and share learnings internally.
The Right Tools for the Job
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or equivalent in related discipline.
- Certifications: Professional designation (P.Eng., EP, P.Ag, PMP etc.) or working towards
- Experience: 4-10 years of progressive environmental experience on construction, consulting or industrial projects.
- Software: Strong proficiency with ERP systems (Maximo, Oracle) and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI).
- Other: Willingness and ability to travel Western Canada 25% of the time
