We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Maintenance and Turnaround division and build innovative projects in the oil, gas, petrochemical, renewable energy, power, mining, forestry, underground, heavy construction, maintenance, turnarounds and sustaining capital sectors. Reporting Operations Manager/Project Director, the Project Manager is responsible for the management of the cost, schedule, scope, and technical performance of the Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) Closure Project.

 

This will be a full-time assignment with LOA, Travel Allowance, and home travel once per month.

 

This position will be subject to Site Access Security Clearance (SASC) in accordance with applicable legislation and industry regulations.  Candidate must obtain SASC for applicable client sites prior to commencement of work and must maintain security clearance as a condition of employment. 

 

As a Project Manager at Graham you will accountable for but not limited to ;

 

  • Planning and Execution
    • The Project Manager will hold budget responsibility for work ranging from $2M to $20M annually and approximately 4 to 10 direct reporting staff. They will ensure appropriate execution of the WL Closure contract and oversee management of contracts to deliver Projects.
    • Ensure appropriate execution of the WL Whiteshell Laboratories Closure contract and oversee management of contracts to deliver Projects
    • Responsible for applying the WL Decommissioning QA Program requirements, and its supporting procedures in project activities.
    • Provide exceptional reporting and communication on project status, with
      emphasis on resolving issues and correcting variances to plans.
    • Initiate and maintain productive relationships with internal service providers (e.g., Skilled Trades, Engineering, Radiation Protection, Strategic Planning, Nuclear Facilities, Procurement, and compliance/regulatory programs).

 

  • Safety
    • Enforces management expectations regarding safe work practices, consequences of not following safe work practices and performance management issues.
    • Ensure that work is performed safely and in compliance with requirements of the Site License and Facility Authority.

 

Abilities and Skills

The incumbent should have:

  • Must have demonstrated strong leadership skills, to support and articulate the organizations’ vision/mission at all levels, and have a proven ability to achieve results through others.
  • Ability to coordinate time with multiple issues and Projects.
  • Good understanding of change management concepts.
  • Broad knowledge of and commitment to Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’s corporate objectives, policies and procedures, and a strong sense of the prevailing industry and regulatory culture.
  • Able to work extended hours and off normal work shifts to support project needs

 

Working Conditions

  • Role is both office and field-based and requires occasional travel.
  • Work in environments that require personal protective equipment and clothing including construction/decommissioning sites, contamination zones and potentially confined spaces.
  • Office work environment with some exposure to nuclear radiation and industrial hazards during construction/demolition site visits.
  • Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures ranging from +30°C to -40°C.
  • May be required to perform overtime.

 

Qualifications / Experience

  • Approximately 7-10 years of experience at a general contractor or subcontractor.
  • Willing to be mobile and travel.
  • Civil, Mechanical, and/or Electrical background.
  • Sector experience in Construction, Transportation, Power, and/or Nuclear.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in alternative delivery models.
  • Strong understanding of design management (as a Project Manager), commissioning, and design/build.
