Graham is actively recruiting for a Financial Reporting Accountant supporting the Corporate Services Division. Reporting to the Corporate Finance Director the Financial Reporting Accountant plays a key role in supporting the preparation of consolidated financial reporting, year-end financial statements, technical accounting analyses, and various external and internal reporting requirements.
The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, solving complex accounting issues, and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization. This role offers exposure to technical accounting matters, and financial statement preparation.
This position is ideal for a CPA-designated professional seeking to expand their experience in external reporting, consolidation accounting, and technical accounting within a growing North American organization.
This role is a temporary, full-time 18 month contract.
Your Role in Building What Matters – From Office to Site
- External Financial Reporting
- Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and related supporting schedules using Workiva
- Coordinate the collection, review, and validation of financial information from business units and corporate functions
- Perform detailed financial statement reviews, tie-outs, variance analyses, and consistency checks to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Support legal entity reporting requirements and statutory reporting obligations
- Support the preparation of presentations, executive reporting packages, and other financial reporting deliverables, including MD&A and Audit Committee package
- Technical Accounting & Compliance
- Assist in the evaluation and documentation of technical accounting matters under ASPE, US GAAP, and IFRS
- Monitor new and emerging accounting standards and assist with implementation activities as required
- Support compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting requirements
- Prepare technical accounting memos and support analyses for complex and non-routine transactions
- Consolidation & Financial Analysis
- Perform monthly consolidation with SAP BPC, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation entries and support reconciliations
- Manage and maintain the consolidation reporting tool to support accurate and timely financial consolidation and reporting
- Analyze financial results and investigate significant trends, fluctuations, and variances to support MD&A and Audit Committee package reporting
- Audit & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Support quarterly review and annual audit processes, including the preparation of audit support and responses to auditor inquiries
- Collaborate with operational finance teams, corporate accounting, treasury, tax, legal, and other departments to gather and validate reporting information
- Build strong working relationships across the organization to support accurate and timely reporting deliverables
The Right Tools for the Job
- Required Qualifications
- CPA designation (or CPA designation in progress)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
- 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience in public practice and/or industry
- Strong understanding of ASPE, US GAAP, and IFRS and financial statement preparation
- Experience preparing and analyzing complex reconciliations, working papers, and supporting financial analyses
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with external reporting, consolidations, and financial statement preparation
- Experience researching and documenting technical accounting matters
- Experience supporting audits and working directly with external auditors
- Familiarity with financial reporting systems such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP BPC, Workiva, or similar platforms
- Experience with process improvement, automation, or finance transformation initiatives
