We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Maintenance and Turnaround division and build innovative projects in the oil, gas, petrochemical, renewable energy, power, mining, forestry, underground, heavy construction, maintenance, turnarounds and sustaining capital sectors. Reporting to the Director of Estimating, Estimator 3 assists and supports the estimating team on projects opportunities utilizing standardized estimating processes and tools. The incumbent is accountable for determining project scopes, providing accurate quantifying / costing, and managing deadlines, and possesses the ability to interpret all tender documents, work collaboratively, and communicate clearly with the Graham team and with industry partners.

 

Execution

• Determine the project scope of work.

• Analyze design criteria and assist in recommending best options based on cost, engineering quality, and availability of materials.

• Compile third party bids for solicitation of third-party material and or subcontractor pricing.

• Complete estimate quantification and draft costing of labour, including productivities, equipment including productivities, material, and, subtrade amounts.

• Set-up and complete discipline estimates in company standard estimating programs.

• Participate in the identification of project risk and cost mitigation, as well as the potential for project opportunities and cost savings.

• Participate in the analysis of potential strategies, advantages, or innovations for the project that could provide Graham with a more competitive bid.

• Analyze subcontractor bids for irregularities and ensure the full scope of work is included.

• Provide accurate assessments of risk and scope for delegated portions of an overall estimate.

•  Identify project-specific HSE and Quality risks and propose mitigation plans for these items in the estimate.

• Establish milestones throughout the estimate lifecycle and meet or exceed goals.

• High school graduate and completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school.

• 0 to 5 years of construction-related experience, or field-related experience.

• Proficiency in the use of MS Excel and interpretation of design drawings. Previous experience with estimating software or BIM modelling is an asset.

• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills with above average organizational and time management abilities.

• Ability to comprehend tender documents, specifications, and drawings, with a basic understanding of contractual requirements.

• General understanding of all construction scopes of work.

• The majority of work is completed in the office with some mobility required locally for site walkthroughs, site condition reviews, and in-progress project visits.

• Occasional travel to other branches to offer short term support may be requested.

• Due to the nature of non-negotiable closing times, flexibility with working hours may be required to ensure deadlines are met (eg. longer working days, weekends).
