About the Role

Join Graham Capital, the dynamic project development and financing arm of Graham. We're seeking an Associate Director to play a pivotal role in our team. You'll work closely with our Director of Development and Director of Finance, contributing to our key goal: securing and delivering profitable, low-risk projects in collaboration with Graham’s Infrastructure and Buildings divisions, utilizing a variety of Public Private Partnership and structured project financing models. Your role involves formulating strategies to provide differentiate services to target asset classes, identifying potential projects in our target markets, strategizing pursuits, leading competitive proposals, and winning work for our team to deliver. You will have overall accountability for leading our team to success on projects that we are awarded, actively managing technical, commercial, and financial requirements to ensure that the objectives of our clients are met and that our profitability targets are achieved.

 

This position will focus primarily on multi-key residential projects, long-term care facilities, and building retrofits in our Canada and US markets. The work location is flexible and open to a hybrid working arrangement, given that work will support various offices across our established markets.

As an Associate Director at Graham Capital, you will:

  • Develop market intelligence for assigned geographic regions and asset classes, and leverage your strategic thinking skills to identify profitable business opportunities for Graham to jointly target with our construction teams.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities and strategies of our various construction divisions, and leverage that knowledge to find aligned opportunities for the Graham business.
  • Lead the formulation of our strategy to deliver differentiated services for assigned geographic regions and asset classes, ensuring a well-aligned and coordinated approach to project pursuit, capture, and delivery.
  • Lead market and business development activities, ultimately building out a pipeline of potential project opportunities to target.
  • Develop project capture strategies and lead the preparation and delivery of proposals and presentations to prospective clients, ultimately winning work for our business to deliver.
  • Actively manage and mentor our Development Managers and Development Coordinators, prioritizing their skill development through the execution of successful projects.
  • Provide oversight to, and take overall responsibility for, the successful performance of assigned projects.
  • Contribute at the highest level to Graham’s financial performance for the benefit of our unitholders.
  • Professionally represent Graham in various public forums, including conferences, client meetings, and presentations.
  • Provide other support to our Directors as required.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • A degree in engineering or business is required.
  • Experience with building renovation, retrofit, fit-out, and energy projects is an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant construction industry experience in project pursuit and delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, and strong client focus and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities from both internal and external clients.
  • Strong strategic analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Extensive experience in project management, commercial management, and project finance.
  • Extensive experience with full-lifecycle project delivery, including pursuit, execution, and closeout.
  • Deep understanding of our markets in the Buildings and/or Infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong work ethic and ambition; desire to be part of a small, high-performing team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good networking skills and a willingness to participate in various industry events and forums.
