Jardeg is hiring a Welder Apprentice to join the Heartland Constructors maintenance team at the Imperial Oil Kearl site in Fort MacKay, Alberta. Charter flights are provided from Calgary/Edmonton to site! Shift schedules will be on 14 days on, 14 days off, 12 hours per day. While working on site, workers will be staying at the Wapasu camp which will provide hot meals, lodging, workout facility, Wi-Fi and much more!
Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Welders develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders, as well as clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch and welding parts together.
Responsibilities:
- Have thorough knowledge of metals, arc electrodes, welding gases and gas welding filter rods.
- Join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components under supervision
- Able to prepare, fit up and bridge tack weld pipe for SMAW/GTAW process.
- Have a working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with various welding procedures
Minimum Requirements:
- Energy Safety Canada Certified Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
- Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Protection
- Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space
- Energy Safety Canada Certified Wood Buffalo Awareness
- Energy Safety Canada Certified Fire Watch
- Basic Rigging (In-person course)
- Class 5 Driver’s License
- Welder Apprenticeship Certificate
