Jardeg is currently recruiting for Construction Superintendents with infrastructure experience, strong safety approach, and demonstrated leadership (transport infrastructure bridges/interchanges, water & wastewater treatment plants/pump stations etc.) for projects located in GTA.


The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience successfully executing projects with values up to $50M
  • Experience being responsible for the field and site management of the projects and all project activities, including the supervision of self-performed and subcontracted construction work.
  • technical expertise to lead an estimate and make complex decisions about costs, change management, and balancing the risk/reward equation.
  • Experience in people development, managing the culture in the field, and providing key communication between the office and field operations.
  • Civil bridge experience preferred.


As a S1 Superintendent at Jasper, some key responsibilities include:

Project Execution

  • Accountable to ensure that project site and company assets are secure and maintains a safe and respectful working environment at all times.
  • Leads the review of construction drawings and specifications, planning and preparation of execution, inspection, testing and safe work plans and pre-empts  problem areas.
  • Manages team members, conduct performance reviews, performance management, disciplinary action, termination, contractual negotiations and or other appropriate actions.
  • Develops site organization and staffing requirements required to execute construction activities within project schedule and acceptable costs.
  • Ensures project closeout is appropriately finalized to settle all financial obligations, demobilize all resources and transition the project to the client.
  • Facilitates all Progress and Safety meetings with all subcontractor representatives and reviews and obtains agreement on upcoming work to be accomplished.


Project Planning

  • Thoroughly understands the project specifications, the contract’s general conditions and confirms that all materials and work comply with the contract and quality specifications.
  • Liaises with the Project Manager and other personnel as required in setting priorities to ensure timely construction performance and advises on appropriate changes in methods, materials, schedules and procedures.


Project Financial

  • Directs the review for Project planning, direction, organization and budgeting of all self-performed and subcontracted construction work.
  • Manages the management of the project budget by controlling expenses, administering owner and subcontractor billings, identifying work not covered by subcontractor’s scope of work/budget.
  • Oversees the development and management of the contract’s general conditions, construction phases and buyout strategy during preconstruction.



  • Directs the development of construction strategies, project execution plan, schedule and estimate
  • Ensures consistent communication with subcontractors and staff what the expectations and direction is regarding schedules, construction methods, company policies and procedures, permits, safety/loss prevention, quality control, and other performance standards.
  • Accountable to develop scope strategies for subcontracts and self-performed work and assigning of subject matter experts of resources accordingly
  • Facilitates and is the Principal point of contact and decision maker at pre-tender meetings.
  • Responsible for promoting and ensuring that project safety plan is developed and adhered to.



  • Take responsibility for their own health, safety, and environmental protection, workers, the general public, and visitors to the site(s).
  • Assist, conduct, and coach worker(s) in Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs), Behaviour Based Safety (BBS).
  • Know and comply with client requirements, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and all applicable government laws and regulations.
  • Hold direct reports accountable for HSE performance, and verify that subordinates are executing their responsibilities properly.
  • Demonstrate HSE leadership at all times.
  • Ensure Contractors and Subcontractors meet or exceed HSE MS requirements during execution of work.



  • Be the authority to control the Quality performance on project site.
  • Communicate the Project Specific Quality Plan (PSQP) to the project site team including Subcontractors.
  • Responsible for the execution of the PSQP and implementation of all Quality activities on site.
  • Monitor the performance of Quality by the Subcontractors.
  • Verify that the project site team is performing all required Quality activities and hold them accountable for their Quality performance.

  • Assists in developing/facilitating superintendent-related company training programs.



  • Gives constructive, actionable feedback to help people improve their performance and development.
  • Recruits and promotes the best people available (internal or external) to fill current roles to meet current and future requirements.
  • Builds constructive and effective working relationship with both internal and external team members, direct reports.
  • Manages the experience of customers to ensure positive relationships are established and maintained.
  • Understands the implications of decisions on the financial objectives of the project deliverable.
  • Continuously scans and analyses the environment for potential risks or safety hazards.



  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or a related field is preferred.
  • 10-15+ years of experience. Depending upon the project size, scope, and complexity the years of experience may vary and may require an ability to assist with more than one project at a time.
  • Exhibits commitment to quality and safety by evaluating project related processes and making necessary changes and meeting or exceeding internal and external customer expectations.
  • Demonstrates proficiency using a computer and communication tools such as; email, internet, and Microsoft products.
  • Demonstrates proficiency using scheduling and project management software.
