Jardeg Construction is recruiting Pipefitter Journeypersons to join the team supporting NOVA at Joffre, AB, for turnaround work. Reporting to site supervision, the role of Journeyperson Pipefitter will be expected to start May-June, working 6 and 1, 10 hours/day, with each workday consisting of 10 hours, end date will potentially be in the fall.  This position will perform general pipefitter maintenance work at our client’s facility located in Joffre.

 

NOVA Chemicals’ Joffre manufacturing facility is located just east of Red Deer, Alberta and is one the largest ethylene and polyethylene production complexes in the world. The site actually consists of five manufacturing facilities: three for ethylene production and two for polyethylene production.

 

Steamfitter – pipefitters lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes. Pipefitters also remove and replace worn components, do general maintenance work and may work on plant shut-downs.

 

LOA will be available for those living outside of 85 km radius.

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Registered Steamfitter with previous maintenance or project experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Alberta Drivers’ License
  • Able to meet conditions outlined on the Physical Demands Analysis
  • Achieve 100% completion of mandatory Quinn and client training
  • Pre-access Drug & Alcohol test
  • Training Required: CSTS 2020, Energy Safety Canada Confined Space Entry, Energy Safety Canada Fall Protection

 

 Position Description

 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on quality
  • Understand ISO metric drawings.
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install piping, valves, and fittings
  • Join pipe sections, related equipment and secure in position
  • Use testing equipment to check systems for leaks
  • Contribute to pre-job Toolbox meetings
  • Ensure PTA cards are included as part of each job/task
  • Conduct regular worksite inspections to monitor workmanship and safety compliance
  • Comply with Quinn and client safety policies and procedures
  • High degree of safety awareness and a commitment to safety (his/hers and others)
