Jardeg is currently recruiting experienced Carpenter Journeypersons to join our team on the Newell Substation Project! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in concrete formwork and civil infrastructure.
 
This position is located on a project in Burnaby, BC and does not have camp accommodations or living out allowance.
 
This is 5 days on, and 2 days off schedule with the possibility of working afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Construct, install, and dismantle concrete formwork systems 
  • Build and maintain temporary work platforms, access systems, and staging for pre-engineered formwork systems
  • Install embedded items such as anchors, dowels, and reinforcing assemblies to engineered specifications
  • Work safely implementing approved fall protection systems
  • Measure, cut, and assemble wood, plywood, and formwork materials accurately
  • Assist with concrete pours, including form preparation, bracing, stripping, and finishing activities.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and layout information.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project quality standards and safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and safety meetings.
  • Inform immediate supervisor of abnormalities or defects and/or takes appropriate measures
  • Act as a work leader and mentor to apprentice carpenters
 
 
Requirements:
 
  • Preference will be given to a candidate that has a Carpenter Journeyperson Ticket from a recognized provincial training authority
  • Non-ticketed carpenters must provide proof of hours relevant to the industrial Carpentry trade
  • Experience with concrete formwork is required
  • Experience working on civil, infrastructure and/or heavy construction projects
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable transportation to get to work
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
