Jardeg Construction is looking for Crane Operator Journeyperson to join the Cenovus Refinery Lloydminster, AB maintenance team. The shift will be on NIGHTS and rotation will be 9 days on and 5 days off, 12 hours a day. This is a shor term maintenance position from July 14th until September 02nd, 2026

 

Travel Allowance and Living Out Allowance are available to those that are non locals to Lloydminster, AB

 

Overview of Crane:

 

The Crane Operator (Journeyperson) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cranes, including a 75-ton Rough Terrain (RT) crane, to support maintenance, turnaround, and construction activities at the Cenovus Lloydminster Refinery. This role plays a critical part in executing lifts in a heavy industrial environment while adhering to strict safety and operational standards.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Operate cranes, specifically including a 75T Rough Terrain (RT) crane, to lift, move, and position materials, equipment, and structural components
  • Perform critical lifts in accordance with engineered lift plans and site procedures
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections, equipment checks, and routine maintenance
  • Interpret load charts, lift plans, and rigging configurations
  • Work closely with riggers, signalers, and supervision to ensure safe lift execution
  • Maintain clear communication using hand signals and/or radio
  • Ensure compliance with Cenovus safety standards, site policies, and OH&S regulations
  • Assist with general site activities when crane operations are not required
  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents as per site protocols
  • Use other machinery like skid steers when needed
  • Help ironworkers, pipefitters, and maintenance crews during downtime or when lifts aren’t required
  • Performing critical lifts for maintenance and repairs
  • Working in tight, congested plant areas (pipes, structures, vessels everywhere)
  • Communicating with riggers / signalers (hand signals, radios), supervisors and other trades
  • Doing pre-lift planning (load weight, radius, hazards)
  • Completing equipment inspections before each shift

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Journeyperson Crane Operator certification (Red Seal preferred)
  • Proven experience operating Rough Terrain cranes (75T RT experience required or strongly preferred)
  • Experience with critical lifts and shutdown/turnaround workValid Class 5 Driver’s License (clean abstract may be required)

  • Must successfully complete site-specific orientation and safety training

  • CSO or Common Safety Orientation 

  • CSTS- 2020

  • Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive

  • Valid Full Class 5 Driver’s License - No restrictions

  • 3 Year’s Driver’s Abstract

  • Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
