Jardeg is recruiting Structural Ironworker Journeypersons to join the Heartland Constructors maintenance team for a project at SUNCOR Firebag site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. Shift Rotation is 6 days on 1 day off, 12 hours/day from April 30th until May 23rd, 2026. Camp accommodations and charter flights (from Calgary or Edmonton) provided by the company. 

 

**Some of the required safety tickets costs will be covered.**

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • They erect structural steel components, install conveyors and robotic equipment, and sometimes perform reconstructive work on existing structures.
  • Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials. Assemble and erect pre-fabricated metal structures
  • Check the alignments and join steel parts by bolting or tack welding them with an electric arc process.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • Energy Safety Canada Fall Protection 
  • Energy Safety Canada Elevated Work Platform
  • Energy Safety Canada Confined Space
  • Overhead Crane 
  • Basic Rigging
  • WHMIS 2015
  • H2S Awareness (if no ESC H2S Alive) – via Energy Safety Canada 
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness Basic via Energy Safety Canada
  • Valid Full Class 5 Driver’s License-No restrictions
  • 3 year drivers abstract
  • Structural Ironworker Journeyperson Ticket or Apprenticeship card (must be in good standing) 
  • Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
