Jardeg is recruiting Pressure Safety Valve Technician to join the SUNCOR Firebag maintenance team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a permanent position starting around May 22nd, 2025 with a 14 days on, 14 days off day shift schedule.
Camp accommodation and charter flights (from Calgary or Edmonton) provided by the company. Successful candidate will need to be willing to go through training under current technicians onsite until completing the PRD technician certification which may take 6-12 months to achieve.
As a Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safe and reliable operation of our thermal in-situ facility. You will be responsible for the inspection, testing, and repair of PSVs, working closely with maintenance, operations, and reliability teams to ensure regulatory compliance and equipment integrity. This position will report directly into the Foreperson PSV technician.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of functional operation of various piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, grooving and bending of pipes, valves and fittings.
- Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair pressurized piping systems.
- Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required.
- Use testing equipment effectively to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
- Maintain all tools, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Read and interpret client and company supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Red-line update drawings to an as-built condition.
- Follow various Client policies & procedures including adherence to requirements of ISO 9001-2000.
- Must be able to climb and work at heights.
- Fluid English speaking & understanding necessary due to radio contact use in case of plant evacuation or medical emergency.
Minimum Requirements:
- Journeyperson certification in a relevant trade (Instrumentation Technician, Pipefitter, Boilermaker, or Millwright).
- 1-3 years practical experience working independently with valve operations.
- Experience working in the oil sands.
