Jardeg is recruiting Ironworker Journeypersons for the Spring Turnaround at the CNRL Horizon site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. The Ironworker Journeyperson Base Rate is $51.05/hr. This position starts May 13th on a 6/1 shift rotation working 12 hours per day. The approximate end date is June 18th. Overtime is paid at time and a half for any time worked over 8 hours a day and/or over 40 hour a week. There is both day shift and night shift positions. There is a $3.00/hr premium for night shift. This is a camp position with flights out of Calgary or Edmonton flight hubs. There is travel allowance provided for out of province candidates.

As an Ironworker Journeyperson your responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Read blueprints and specifications to lay out the work
  • Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed
  • Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials
  • Attach cables from a crane or derrick and direct crane operators with hand signals or radios
  • Position steel units, align holes and insert temporary bolts
  • Check the alignments and join steel parts by bolting or tack welding them with an electric arc process
  • Install ornamental and other structural metalwork such as curtain walls, metal stairways, railings and power doors

 

Requirements:

  • Certified Journeyperson Ironworker 
  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or CSTS-09
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space Entry
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection
  • Basic Rigging Certification
  • Valid Government Issued Identification
