Jardeg is recruiting an Electrical Journeyperson to join the Heartland Constructors Inc. at Suncor Fort Hills near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a permanent position starting in July, 2026; 7 on and 7 off, 12 hours per day, days and nights alternating shifts with their maintenance team in the basal wells area of the plant.
The Electrical Journeyperson will be responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment related to the Basal Wells at Suncor Fort Hills. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while adhering to Suncor’s safety, environmental, and operational standards.
As an Electrician Journeyperson, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Drive throughout the mine monitoring wells which can be water wells, Basal Wells
- Check, monitor and record pressures
- Leak detection
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults in low- and medium-voltage systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment to maximize operational reliability.
- Read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures
- Perform predictive and operational procedures
- Repair or replace defective parts
- Ensure compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Alberta regulations, and company safety standards.
- Utilize testing equipment such as multimeters, insulation resistance testers, and power quality analyzers.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders through computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Minimum Requirements:
- Certified Electrician Journeyperson ticket
- Basal Wells experience would be an Asset
- Experience in oil sands, mining, SAGD, heavy industrial, or upstream/downstream oil and gas operations.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and maintenance practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics
- Energy Safety Canada approved Elevated Work Platform
- Energy Safety Canada approved H2S Awareness or H2S Alive
- Mask Fit Test
- Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License and clean drivers abstract
