Jardeg is recruiting an Electrical Journeyperson to join the Heartland Constructors Inc. maintenance team at Suncor Fort Hills near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a permanent position starting January 21st, 2026; 7 on and 7 off, 12 hours per day, day shift.

 

Suncor Forthills is looking for an Electrician Journeyperson to work with their maintenance teamon on the basal wells area on their plant.

 

The Electrical Journeyperson is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment at the Fort Hills oil sands operation. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while adhering to Suncor’s safety, environmental, and operational standards.

 

As an Electrician Journeyperson, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Inspect, test, and repair electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and control system issues to minimize downtime
  • Work with motors, VFDs,  transformers, lighting systems, and grounding systems
  • Ensure all work complies with Alberta Electrical Code, CSA standards, and Suncor policies
  • Complete work permits, hazard assessments (FLHA), lockout/tagout, and safety documentation
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and other trades to support plant reliability
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and environmental stewardship

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Journeyperson Electrician Certificate (Red Seal preferred)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience (oil sands or heavy industrial preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and maintenance practices
  • Experience working in operating plants and/or construction environments
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Physically capable of working in an industrial environment (climbing, lifting, outdoor conditions)
  • Experience in oil sands mining or extraction facilities
  • Energy Safety Canada approved Elevated Work Platform
  • Energy Safety Canada approved Fall Protection
  • Energy Safety Canada approved Confined Space
  • Energy Safety Canada approved H2S Awareness or H2S Alive
  • Mask Fit Test
  • Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License
