Jardeg is recruiting Millwright Journeypersons to join the Heartland Constructors Outage Program at the Imperial Oil Kearl site in Fort MacKay, Alberta. Charter flights are provided from Calgary or Edmonton to site. While working on-site, workers will be staying at the Wapasu camp which will provide hot meals, lodging, workout facilities, Wi-Fi and more. The successful candidate would be working 11.5 hours per day, for the duration of the project until completion. Overtime shall apply for all hours worked in excess of 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. This is a temporary role starting Feb 27th, 2026 until March 12th, 2026.
Millwrights install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in sites such as factories, production plants and recreational facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Read diagrams, schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures
- Operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts
- Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
- Align and test equipment and make any necessary adjustments
- Perform predictive and operational procedures
- Repair or replace defective parts
- Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- May do some tack welding (a weld that is adequate in size to temporarily hold components in place until it can be completely welded by a registered apprentice welder or a journeyperson welder) and fabrication as well as maintain an inventory of replacement parts.
Minimum Requirements:
- Millwright Journeyperson Certification and/or Interprovincial Red Seal
- Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
- Standard First Aid (Level A or C)
- Basic Rigging (In-person course)
- ESC Wood Buffalo Wildlife Orientation
- ESC Fall Protection
- ESC Confined Space
- Satisfactory Drug & Alcohol Test
- Mask Fit Test
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Other safety ticket(s) and orientation(s) required, as per the project team
