Heartland Constructors Inc. is seeking HVAC Technicians to join our Imperial Oil Kearl Lake Plant Maintenance team on site near Fort McKay, Alberta.


This is a Full-time position on a 14/14 shift rotation. 


HVAC Technicians will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Maintenance work involving checking all parts of a system, lubricating moving parts and monitoring the refrigerant charge.
  • Diagnosing and fixing unit problems by replacing or repairing controls, electric wiring or other parts.
  • Repairing heating equipment, troubleshoot gas-fired equipment and calibrate all gas-related controls.
  • Responsible for delivery of excellent customer service and sustaining high levels of customer satisfaction.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Certified Red Seal/Alberta Journeyman/ 4 year Apprenticeship Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020)
  • Certification First Aid - Standard Level Certification
  • HVAC diagnostic experience
  • Ability to do troubleshootingReading and interpreting drawings and blueprints
  • Experience using testing equipment
  • Startups of new or adjusted equipmentValid non-restricted driver's license mandatory Fit Test


This is a fly-in/fly-out position and as such will be subject to the Government of Canada’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements:

  • As per Federal guidelines, as of December 1st, 2021, anyone who is to board a charter flight must be able to provide proof of full vaccination (+14 days). Please ensure you bring proof with you to the flight center and allow for at least 2 hours prior to flight departure.
  • Additionally, anyone accessing the IOL Kearl Site will also require full vaccination (full course plus 14 days) required on or before February 15, 2022.
