Jardeg is recruiting B pressure Hand Welder Journeypersons to join the Heartland Constructors at the Imperial Oil Kearl site in Fort MacKay, Alberta. Charter flights are provided from Calgary or Edmonton to site. While working on-site, workers will be staying at the Wapasu camp which will provide hot meals, lodging, workout facilities, Wi-Fi, commissary and much more!

The successful candidate would be working 12 hours per day, on a 14/14 shift which allows for a good work life balance. Competitive rates, opportunities to move around the plant and working with a team with a "safety first" mindset make this role ideal!

 

 

Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Welders develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders, clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch and weld parts together.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Be skillful in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications
  • Have a working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures 
  • Comprehend drawings and develop layout patterns for projects and calculate quantities of materials 
  • Have a thorough knowledge of metals, arc electrodes, welding gases and gas welding filler rods 
  • Recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area 
  • Have a working knowledge of mathematics calculations pertaining to the welding trade 
  • Have a working knowledge of the required codes 
  • Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades 
  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry
  • Have a valid CWB in the process's being used
  • Have a valid B-pressure ticket in the processes being used if required

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • ​​Journeyperson or Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certification
  • Standard First Aid (Level A or C)
  • ESC Fall Protection
  • ESC MEWP
  • ESC Confined Space
  • Basic Rigging (In-person course)
  • Satisfactory Drug & Alcohol Test
  • Mask Fit Test
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License
  • Other safety ticket(s) and orientation(s) required, as per the project team

 

Welding Tickets: (must be current and within 6 mths) 

  • B Pressure Welding Certificate 
  • F3/F4 – SMAW/SMAW – Uphill progression
  • F6 – FCAW – Uphill progression
  • F6/F5 -GTAW/SMAW – Uphill progression
  • Arctec 661T – SMAW -CCO
  • Arctec W1063 – FCAW – CCO
  • CWB – SMAW – CS – S-Class – 3 mm and above
  • CWB – FCAW – CS – S- Class – 3 mm and above
  • CWB – SMAW – CS – T -Class – 3 mm and above (Not Mandatory)
  • CWB – SMAW – CS - 10 Ga to 3 mm (Not Mandatory)
  • F6-GTAW – Uphill progression
  • F6,F5 - GTAW, SMAW
