Jardeg is looking for Carpenter Journeypersons to join the Shell Retail Program in Edmonton, AB. This is a full-time temporary position on a 5/2 shift schedule – 9 hours a day at $39 per hour – with possibility for overtime. Work is currently scheduled to start July and finish October 2022.


Strong candidates will bring experience in a commercial setting, specifically petroleum construction is preferred. In addition, we are looking for candidates to have experience operating various equipment (Zoom Boom, Skid Steer, Man Lift, etc.). Completing exterior and interior finishing is also a must.


Carpenters construct, renovate, erect and repair buildings and other structures made of wood, wood substitutes, steel and other materials. In commercial or industrial jobs, they build concrete forms, scaffolding, bridges, trestles, tunnels, shelters, towers and other structures. In maintenance jobs, they repair and remodel existing structures of all kinds. Some carpenters specialize in one type of work such as framing, bench work or finishing work.



  • Read drawings and/or get instructions from a Supervisor
  • Complete the layout including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, and measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions
  • Cut and shape materials and join them with nails, screws, bolts or glue
  • Check completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location
  • Work accurately and economically, and follow national and local building codes

Minimum Certification Requirements:

  • Journeyperson Certification and/or Interprovincial Red Seal
  • CSTS 09 or 2020
  • First Aid – Standard Level Certification
  • Aerial Work Platform (AWP)
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified - Fall Protection
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified - Confined Space
  • Skid Steer Ticket (ticket or experience considered)
  • Telehandler Operator Certificate


Minimum Experiance Requirements:

  • Experience in a commercial setting including exterior and interior finishing work
  • Experience operating various equipment (Zoom Boom, Man Lift, Skid Steer, etc.)
  • Experience in Petroleum Construction is preferred
  • Strong leadership in both Construction and Safety
  • Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills
  • Team Player
  • Excellent ability to motivate workers and subtrades to meet demanding schedules
