Jardeg is recruiting a Ticketed Crane Operator Journeyperson to work with the Suncor Firebag Capital project team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a temporary position starting April 30th until May 23rd, rotation will be Straight Through, 12 hours per day. These are fly in / fly out positions with camp accommodations at Wapasu.
Crane operators control and operate cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials or equipment on construction sites or in industrial settings.
A Crane Operator will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:
Responsibilities:
- Crane Operators manipulate a number of pedals and levers to rotate the crane and raise and lower its boom and one or more load lines.

May drive the crane to the job site, rig the machine up (pin the boom and pendant cables and pull the hoist cable in preparation for operation).

Conduct pre-operation inspections of cranes and ensure equipment is in good working condition.

Follow safety protocols and ensure all work is performed in accordance with Suncor’s safety standards and regulations.

Communicate effectively with rigging teams, supervisors, and other personnel to coordinate crane operations.

Assist in loading and unloading materials from trucks, trailers, and storage areas.

Ensure proper rigging and lifting techniques are followed to prevent accidents and damage to equipment.

Maintain accurate records of crane operations, including maintenance, inspections, and load charts.

Adhere to all site-specific environmental and health & safety guidelines.

Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on cranes as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience operating 100 ton hydraulic mobile crane and under
- Journeyperson certificate (must be in good standing)
- CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
- ESC Approved Fall Protection
- H2S Awareness via Energy Safety Canada (if no ESC H2S Alive) via Energy Safety Canada
- Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness Basic and Intermediate via Energy Safety Canada
- WHMIS 2015
- Valid Full Class 5 Driver’s License - No restrictions
- 3 Year’s Driver’s Abstract
- Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
