Jardeg is recruiting for a Pipeline Superintendent to join the Integrated Constructors Inc. team supporting MEG Energy Pipeline Projects on site near Conklin, Alberta. This is a short-term position with full-time hours on a 8/6 or 21/7 shift schedule depending on scope of work.

 

The Pipeline Superintendent oversees all phases of pipeline construction, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality. This role involves managing a team of workers, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and liaising with clients and regulatory bodies. The Pipeline Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day operations on the construction site, ensuring that all activities adhere to project specifications, safety regulations, and company policies. This position reports to Project Manager/Senior Superintendent.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop detailed project plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are obtained.

Site Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations on the construction site
  • Ensure all work is completed according to specifications and within the agreed timeframe.
  • Monitor progress and make adjustments as necessary to keep the project on track.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, train, and mentor site personnel, including subcontractors
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce safety regulations and protocols on-site.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards.
  • Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed and materials used.

Resource Management:

  • Manage equipment, materials, and labor resources efficiently.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Monitor and control project costs to stay within budget.

Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports.
  • Address any concerns or inquiries from stakeholders promptly.

Problem-Solving:

  • Identify and resolve issues that may arise during construction.
  • Implement solutions to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
  • Proactively address potential risks and challenges.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A university degree in civil engineering or a college diploma in construction technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in pipeline construction, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant certifications in construction, safety, or project management are a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS- 2020) Certification

  • Valid Driver's License and a clean 3 Year Driver's Abstract
  • Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol test

 

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily on-site at construction locations.
  • Regular exposure to construction site hazards.
  • May require extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet project deadlines
