Jardeg Construction is currently recruiting a Local Welder Apprentice to join the Imperial Oil team on site in Cold Lake, Alberta on 10 days on 4 days off shift with 10 hours a day schedule.
This is a local position for a Welder Apprentice that lives in the Bonnyville/Cold Lake area.
Imperial Oil Cold Lake has been in operation for 45 years and has close to 400 employees and over ~1000 contracted workers including workers from indigenous businesses. Covering 780 square kilometers (about 300 square miles), Cold Lake is one of the largest thermals in situ operations in the world and supplies our Strathcona Refinery and refineries across Canada and the United States, so they can create the fuel, asphalt and products that keep life running.
Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines, and equipment. Welders develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints, and work orders, as well as clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch and welding parts together.
Responsibilities:
- Develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints, and work orders.
- Clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch.
- Weld parts together.
- Tack-weld fitted parts together.
- Straighten warped or bent parts, using sledges, hand torches, straightening presses, or bulldozers.
- Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
