Jardeg is currently recruiting for Carpenter Journeypersons to join our Buildings team! This position is located in New Westminster, BC, and does not have camp accommodations, travel allowance, or living out allowance. This is a 5 and 2 schedule with the possibility of working afternoons, evenings and weekends, per the project needs.

 
A carpenter is responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. This may include coaching and mentoring apprentices and junior team members and requires performing skilled carpentry work, as well as interpreting blueprints, and maintaining safety standards.  
 
As a Carpenter Journeyperson, you will:
 
  • Build forms for concrete
  • Cut, shape, and join
  • Look for and fix deficiencies
  • Building of hoarding and other temporary structures
  • Check accuracy of work, and makes adjustments as required
  • Study blueprints for work planning
  • Use various hand tools (knowledge & experience with)
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
  • Inform immediate supervisor of abnormalities or defects and/or takes appropriate measures
  • Acts as a work leader and mentors to apprentice carpenters

 

 

Requirements:
 
 
  • Preference will be given to a candidate that has a Carpenter Journeyperson Ticket from a recognized provincial training authority
  • Non-ticketed carpenters must provide proof of hours relevant to the industrial Carpentry trade 
  • Certifications: CSTS & WHMIS
  • Buildings/commercial experience an asset
  • Experience with concrete formwork required
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Describe and point out safety compliance and regulatory issues
  • Reliable transportation to get to work
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
