Workforce Advisor - Heartland

Jardeg (Heartland's trusted recruitment partner)  is seeking a Workforce Advisor to be based out of either Calgary or Edmonton, AB,

 

Reporting directly to the Workforce Manager, the Workforce Advisor is responsible for manpower planning, acquisition, retention, and mobility of workers between projects, and ensures projects are staffed properly. The incumbent is the first point of contact for employees with issues and inquires on-site or with pay, or who require access to information, and facilitates the labour relations (LR) activities throughout the hire-to-retire lifecycle of craft workers and field supervisors. 

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Coordinating project manpower needs for craft and field supervision.
  • Assist employees and site supervision on a variety of LR issues including first-day orientation, benefits, pension, progressive discipline, and terminations. 
  • Assist with the execution and implementation of LR initiatives.
  • Assist with training, manpower requirements, and safety certifications. 
  • Research and coach regarding employment standards and legislative requirements.
  • Create collaborative and strategic partnerships with client.
  • Coordinate and administer workforce planning reports.
  • Address employee and workforce issues as they arise. 
  • Travel up to 25% will be required.

Education, Experience and Knowledge

 

  • 3+ years of HR/LR construction experience.
  • Highly motivated, self-directing, and results-oriented.
  • Ability to manage change and think critically.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills supplemented with strong computer skills (proficiency with MS Office Suite).
  • Strong presentation skills are important.
  • Labour Relations or Human Resources degree or certificate is an asset. 
  • Ability to travel within the province regularly.
