Jardeg is currently recruiting experienced Carpenter Journeypersons to join our team on the Agassiz Bridge Project! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in concrete formwork systems, bridge construction, and the construction of temporary work platforms and access structures.
 
This position is located on a long-term project in Agassiz, BC and does not have camp accommodations or living out allowance.
 
This is a 5 days on and 2 days off schedule with the possibility of working afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Construct, install, and dismantle concrete formwork systems for bridge and structural concrete components.
  • Build and maintain temporary work platforms, access systems, and staging required for bridge construction and rehabilitation activities.
  • Perform deck repairs, curb construction, and barrier wall repairs. 
  • Install embedded items such as anchors, dowels, and reinforcing assemblies to engineered specifications.
  • Work safely at heights and over waterways implementing approved fall protection systems.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble wood, plywood, and formwork materials accurately.
  • Assist with concrete pours, including form preparation, bracing, stripping, and finishing activities.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and layout information.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and safety meetings.
  • Inform immediate supervisor of abnormalities or defects and/or takes appropriate measures
  • Act as a work leader and mentor to apprentice carpenters
 
 
Requirements:
 
 
  • Preference will be given to a candidate that has a Carpenter Journeyperson Ticket from a recognized provincial training authority
  • Non-ticketed carpenters must provide proof of hours relevant to the industrial Carpentry trade
  • Experience with concrete formwork and construction of work platforms is required
  • Fall Protection Certification is a strong asset
  • MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) Certification is a strong asset
  • Experience working on civil, infrastructure, bridge, or heavy construction projects
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable transportation to get to work
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
